Key Features
TWO-LEVEL DESIGN
Step deck trailers have a raised front section (the upper deck) and a lower rear section (the lower deck). The upper deck typically spans about half the length of the trailer and is at standard trailer height. The lower deck is positioned closer to the ground.
VERSATILITY
Step deck trailers offer versatility in hauling various types of freight, including tall or oversized loads such as machinery, construction equipment, vehicles, and other large items that can’t be transported on a standard flatbed due to height restrictions.
HEIGHT CLEARANCE
The lower deck of a step deck trailer allows for greater vertical clearance, accommodating taller cargo without exceeding height regulations. This is really useful when you’re transporting equipment with elevated components or structures.
LOADING & UNLOADING
Loading and unloading cargo onto a step deck trailer can be done using ramps or specialized loading equipment. The lower deck’s reduced height makes it easier to drive equipment or vehicles onto the trailer.
STABILITY & WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION
Step deck trailers are engineered to provide stability and proper weight distribution, which means safer transportation of heavy and oversized loads. This design helps minimize the risk of tipping or instability, especially when you’re hauling tall or unevenly distributed cargo.
